Our first month of Youth Nites has come to an end and now we move into our second month! It has gone better than we expected.
This Tuesday, the community of Broadview had a school play that half of our youth group were cast members in. And so we had only six youth show up on Tuesday night. But it was still an awesome evening. Sonia shared her testimony and one of the young girls came up to her afterward and said “Thank you for sharing that.” We definitely felt the Lord’s presence as she shared.
We did not bring much food this night due to the expected low turnout, but we were still surprised at those who did come out. The last time we brought hot food, we had one youth ask several times if they could have more. We know they are hungry and lack resources at home.
We had planned a movie night, but decided to move it to next Tuesday because we knew that many would be absent. So on May 5th we will be hosting a movie night with pizza, root beer floats, and popcorn.
We have an LED projector and we recently purchased a 120″ wide projector screen off of Facebook Marketplace (Regina). Any suggestions on a movie? A couple we are mulling over are: Facing the Giants, Faith Like Potatoes, and Flywheel.
There are six First Nation communities that are very close to where we are; four in the north (Zagime, Cowessess, Kahkewistahaw and Ochapowace), and two southwest of us (Pheasant Rump First Nation and Ocean Man First Nation) Our prayer is to obtain a 12-15 seater van sometime in the future to start making runs to these communities to pick up youth for the youth nites. We are hoping to also do community food and gospel outreaches to these first Nation communities and to the homeless in Regina. Having a van would be critical to these outreaches. Please keep this in your prayers.
