Last night, we had a few more new youth attend our group. There is definitely something happening! The night didn’t start as smoothly as we had hoped however. As we drove to the hall (which is about 10 miles from where we live), we realized we had forgotten a few items and had to turn back. The most important of the items was the ice cream for the Root Beer Floats and paper plates to serve the food in. ANd so we turned around; but this meant we were going to have a very tight window to pick up the hall keys, pay for the hall rental, pick up a couple of Christian movie selections from the local pastor who has been supporting us, and set up the screen and LCD projector before our start time of 7:00pm! But we got there on time.

It took us a while to get everything set up and as we did the youth started arriving. We were completely blown away at the number of youth that showed up. As they lined up for pizza (we purchased 7 pizzas which they easily demolished!) and root beer floats, I overhead one of the youth say, “I was looking forward to this.” I asked, “Do you mean the Root Beer Floats?” they answered “No, the Tuesday Youth Nites!” These Tuesday Nites have become very important to them now!

The movie started later than we had hoped because Sonia had to run home again to pick up a special item. One of the young people does not drink soda pop so we had purchased some juice boxes specifically for her in mind. When all was said and done, the movie finally got started at 7:45. Our movie title was Courageous. The youth enjoyed the movie but at 9:00 pm we knew we had to let the kids go because it is a school night and our youngest one is 12 so we didn’t want to keep them too long. When the next movie night rolls around (the last Tuesday of the month) we will either finish watching the last half of Courageous or put in a new one.

In any case, the night was a great night. The youth really had a good time and we saw some new faces.
